Sindi Arifi, Miss Suisse Romande 2014

This week’s Portrait is about Sindi Arifi, Blogger, Model, Singer and Pageant winner! I discovered a young lady who uses her innate gifts to have fun but to also serve a deeper aspiration. I don’t want to give too much away before you read it for yourself!

Who is Sindi Arifi?

I am Sindi Arifi, I was crowned Miss Suisse Romande in 2014 and I was finalist at Miss Switzerland 2015. I also have a fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog called Karvain.

I have a lot of different passions. Should I mention that I am someone full of energy and that I can’t stay in place? Hihi.

I love music : I sing and play guitar and piano. This is my way to share my feelings and forget everything. When I sing, it’s like I’m going on a dream-trip. (watch her video at the end of interview)

I’ve been modeling for the past three years – I’ve walked for Salvatore Ferragamo, Hervé Léger, Flavio Castellani, to only name a few. It was always my dream since I was a little girl. I feel truly happy and thankful to have had the chance to work as a model between Geneva and Paris.

One other thing that is important to me is health and fitness. I’ve always been really sporty and full of energy. I need to move, to run, to dance and to see where my limits are. Everyday is a new fight and I love to challenge myself and my body. 10 years of classic dance, karate, volleyball… I can’t stop! 🙂 Of course, I really love to take care of my health and of what I eat. I want to show people that we truly are what we eat. That’s the reason why it’s really important to take care of that.

I need to share my passions with people and show that we have to create our own happiness to be happy.

If there were no rules in your life for one day and you could be outrageous, what would you do?

I would travel everywhere in the world! It would be magic to discover the world. To discover other people and other traditions. To make crazy adventures and to enjoy each moment without any doubt or fear. To be free like a bird!

What is the essence of being a woman today?

Being a woman is living an example of those before me, and being an example for those after me. A woman is an inspiration. Free, wild, happy, strong, sexy. A woman is full of good energies and positivity. She’s also an example for everybody and for the children. It’s like a world full of magic, smooth and delicate strength.

Who is the most influential person in your life and why?

My mother is my example since I was a young girl. She’s always smiling and her energy is incredible. When she does something, she’s really in it. Even when it’s difficult, she doesn’t lose her fire. She’s amazingly strong and she always shares everything with people around her. Her positivity is contagious and I want to make people feel good as she does.

Where is your life headed?

To my dreams. Definitely. I will always work hard to make them come true. I was at the university of applied sciences and I decided to take a break from my studies to follow my passions. I really motivated! I don’t know what’s waiting for me, but I will make each day count and I will never give up on my dreams. My blog is my baby and I want to make it grow more and more. I can’t wait to share everything with my readers and to make my parents proud 🙂

What has been the biggest lesson in your life?

Imanol, my boyfriend’s brother is a “Butterfly child“. He has a disease called epidermolysis bullosas which is really horrible. I see him fight every day with the pain. Even when plagued by the most sorrowful disease, he’s always laughing and smiling. He has this incredible energy and he’s happy to be here. This is my lesson. I can’t stop thinking about him and to realize that life is really precious. Sometimes, we focus on some problems for too long, but all is relative. If he can be happy, we can be as well.

Obviously running for Miss poses the question of rejection. How do you deal with it?

I never focus on negative things. I was happy and excited to participate to Miss Suisse Romande and Miss Switzerland. I just enjoyed each moment and I didn’t care about rejection or bad comments. If we focus on the good side, we always see good things. That’s my way of life for everything that I do! 🙂 I wasn’t scared to say my thoughts and to show my character. Running for Miss is an opportunity to talk, to show, to prove that a girl is full of strenght and ideas. I wanted to share the image of « enfants papillons » and also to show that a girl hasn’t to be perfect. I could spend hours and hours explaining all the things that matter to me and have value!

Tell us about “Enfants Papillons”

I’m really touched to see this question. I just talked about Imanol to explain what’s my biggest lesson in life. « Enfants Papillons » is a foundation which helps Imanol and other children touched by epidermolysis bullosas. We try to assemble money with different events. I’ve done a lot of concerts. It’s a way to show to Imanol that we care and that we try to help him. I don’t want him to feel alone. We are all fighting with him. Thanks to « Enfants Papillons », Imanol will go to Singapore for a graft operation. It’s wonderful!

Have you ever failed? What do you think about failure?

Fall down seven times and stand up the eight time. Failure is a path. Failure is always a lesson which teaches us how to do better, how to be better. My life is always full of challenges, fears and doubts. Do you know why? Because I’m always trying to fight for my dreams and it’s never easy. Failure is the first steps to success.

Do you have any regrets?

I always try to care about each moment because it’s really important to me. Each time that I’m doing something, I ask myself: “are you really enjoying?” It’s a good way to remind me that I don’t want regrets.

Tell us about your collaboration with Negin Mirsalehi

Negin is someone whose work I really appreciate but also her personality. I’ve followed her since the start of her blog and I’ve seen her growing in the industry. She just launched her own Honey Infused Hair Oil named « Gisou ». I collaborated with her to promote her new product in Switzerland. I’m happy and honored to work with such a beautiful person, beautiful soul and inspirational woman!

What is your personal style?

My style is minimalistic. I love simple things with beautiful details. I think that’s what creates the difference in a look! I don’t overthink about what I want to wear. I like to enjoy the clothes and to try new things, new combos every day! I’m always inspired by my travels, the magazines but also music and definitely by my mood. One thing that I particularly love and that’s always perfect for each occasion is… all black everything!

Do you spend much time in Zurich? If so, can you name some of your favourite spots?

I’m a big traveller in Switzerland. I live in Martigny but I’m always around Geneva, Lausanne or Zurich. The train has become my second home! Haha. When I started Miss Switzerland, I had to travel to Zürich quite often. Our schedule was really full and didn’t have time to visit the city. Now that the competition is over and that I work for my blog, I have a lot of meetings in Zürich. I spend a lot of time there and my favorite place is definitely Hiltl! When I discovered it for the first time, I was like a little kid! As I am Vegetarian, it’s never easy to find a place full of natural products. This place is like heaven for me and I always recommend it to my friends. I’m looking forward to spend more and more time in Zurich to discover different places. I know that it’s an amazing city full of beautiful things. Can’t wait to see!

My other love – Music. Check out my rendition of Beyonce’s Drunk in Love.
