Street Art in Zurich

Street Art in Zurich is everywhere! Today, more than ever, artists communicate directly with their audience by using the best platform ever – city streets!

Just as the Dada movement arose as a reaction to the norms and esthetics imposed by the Bourgeoisie, graffiti and street art initially originated as a protest to the political and social landscape of that era. Today, it caries both a Social and commercial function.

These are just a few examples I have come across recently. Some of them I watched being done in person at Quaibruke and am so impressed by the attention to detail and planning that goes into graffitis. One would think that they are created on the fly without any preparation or clear goal but it couldn’t be any further from the truth. And these examples prove it.
