Limmathof Baden Hotel, only Thermal Spa in town

Limmathof Baden Hotel, only Thermal Spa in town
Limmathof Hotel and Spa new

As traveling abroad has become increasingly challenging and sometimes impossible in times of Pandemic, one thing I really recommend anyone itching for something new, is to explore and discover their own country. In my case it’s Switzerland. I always appreciated and was in awe of the natural beauty this country has to offer but in all honesty I didn’t give it all the attention that it deserves. Every turn has something unique and unforgettable to offer.

Today I got to discover the town of Baden, a 30 minute drive from Zurich. I always wanted to visit but somehow never got to it. So getting invited to the Limmathof hotel & Spa was the perfect opportunity to discover a new hotel but also town.

About Limmathof Baden Hotel & Spa

Built in 1834 and completely renovated in 2000. In 2011, the private Spa was added to the modern building.

Limmathof Baden Hotel consists of two buildings, one modern and the other Neo-Baroque. They face each-other from each side of the river, walking distance from old town.

Each building has its own unique character, reflecting the times and probably the demand of their customers.

It was difficult to really get the vibe or culture of the hotel because of the skeleton staff. I imagine that this was due to the current Corona situation. Nevertheless, everyone that I got to meet was welcoming and helpful.

The hotel has no rating which can throw off those of us used to rely on the star system for our selection process. We’ve been trained to judge the quality of most things according to their accolades – the more the better. Managing Director Lorenz Diebold told me that beyond the stars, what they strive for is an unforgettable experience.

Only public Thermal Spa in Baden

The Limmathof Baden is currently the only public thermal spa in the spa town of Baden. Guests can choose between the public bath “Novum Spa” and private spa rooms “Private Spa”.

The Novum Spa is a wellness oasis with thermal bath, whirlpool, steam bath, sauna and cold room.

The Private Spa can be rented for up to four people and benefits from its own whirlpool, sauna and relaxation room.

I loved the freedom and privacy having our own spa provided. I didn’t feel rushed or deterred by the crowd. I tool my time to relax and put all stress behind me.

If you are in Switzerland and want to pamper  yourself and forget about the world for a few hours, I recommend you check out this hotel.
